Social Media Isn't R E A L

Social Media Isn't R E A L

Hi :) ,

Thanks for reading, I just wanted to post something that sort of gets to me on a daily occasion and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Social media isn't real life, it's this made up World that everyone is now involved in. The only reality of it are the people sitting behind the screens and even then you still aren't seeing the real them - I often find myself on here, or Instagram, posting photos of myself smiling and happy or even being tagged in photos where I'm with my friends laughing etc. People see these photos and some may be praising them and some may be looking at my flaws when truth is that was one photo of probably around 20 that I had taken and I've picked that photo because the rest weren’t the best. I edit my pictures slightly to make them look even better with a filter. But for me photography is my passion, and I love editing pictures, of course I'm gonna pick the best picture.

This makes me realize that in fact a lot of females and males are probably doing the same, picking out one photo of many that best shows off their features or body etc, when truth is nobody looks like these pictures 100% of the time.

Nobody is perfect, and the images that are making you feel insecure or wishing you could change something about yourself are the pictures that have made it to social media out of many of failed ones, they have probably gone through editing and adaptions before making it to your eyes and it's important to be aware of that. I'm not going to lie, knowing this doesn't always help because I know I still have days where I am looking at these beautiful women and wishing I looked more like them. I just wanted to add on that this is why a lot of people are very insecure about themselves. Your comparing yourself to others.

So, when your on social media and you're wishing you're like these other people whether that be their positive outlook or the way they look or their diet, just remember that's not really who they are either. You're idealizing something that people also wish they were like. So don’t compare yourself to anybody
