Healthy habits that'll make your life better Becoming “that girl”
Hi, welcome back to another article, I hope you are doing fine and safe, here's a new article about some great and healthy habits I started thinking about during this quarantine-style time. I believe in creating healthy habits that last for a long time. They help improve your life and help you achieve your goals.
Change is a two-step process.
1. decide the type of person you wanna be
2. prove it to yourself with small wins
I'm going to be giving you some tips that hopefully you can implement some healthy habits into your routine to better your mental health and productivity. Let's get into it!
WAKING UP
reward: develops mental toughness ; that first success of waking up in the morning as opposed to pressing snooze will set a great tone for the rest of the day
Many people ( me included ) find waking up early hard, but i'm sure you'll find that getting up earlier can help you get so many things done, and you won't regret it. for the first day, try setting your alarm for just ten minutes earlier than you usually do. the day after that, set it for another ten minutes earlier, and on day three, you would've woken up half an hour earlier! little things like these really do make a difference, and soon you'll be beating the sun to a new day.
Working out in the morning has been helping me a lot with staying energized
2.DRINK WATER
reward: increased alertness and productivity by 30% ; it will help with mental clarity and focus
I'll admit that i forget to do this a lot, but it really does make a difference, and i like to add a couple slices of lemon to mine every morning. Having a Hydro Flask helps me so much staying hydrated.
If you suffer from skin problems such as acne for example you will immediately see the difference after two or three days
If you are a coffee lover like myself and look forward to your morning cup of Joe then make it habit to place a water bottle of even just a glass of water near you so you finish it and then you can enjoy your coffee. Buy a cute water bottle so that you can always have water near you and it motivates you to drink.
3. EXERCISE
reward: significantly elevates mood and develops mental toughness ; you’ll not only be healthier, but your mood will be increased. Make this attainable; don’t be sedentary all the time
It’s important to move your body as much as you can through out the day. Personally stretching in the morning and going for a run is my type of morning. Working out isn't for everyone, but you don't have to go to a gym to do this! just some yoga or quick workouts at home will do the trick.
aim for healthy goals
There are so many great routines for workouts on youtube, and remember to start small and work your way up, to create a balance that's right for your body. and you don't have to do this every day! even just starting at once a week to begin with, and slowly try to do maybe three or four ten minute workouts a week.
4.LIMIT SOCIAL MEDIA
reward: build strength in recovery, improves mental health
Here again you know it, but rarely do it. We're talking about an addiction we all having regarding our cellphones, I am not saying that you should totally get off social media (although if that's what you want please be my guest you just won my respect) but try to seek back control of it. By that I mean fixing some maximum hours spent per day on your phone, or on social media (there are some functions in our phones that can send us notifications about our use of any app), you can also try a complete day without phone, for example on a lazy sunday.
It'll help you feel more efficient and less lazy, it also improves self-confidence and mental health in general.
5.DECLUTTERING YOUR SPACE
Get your speaker and play some music in the background, and pick up all your dirty laundry on the floor, clear up your desk, fold your clothes, and vacuum your floor. If you don't have space to store your things, there are plenty of cheap storage bins and containers in target.
Having a clean space helps me be more organized and it really helps me clear my mind. Somewhere where you feel safe and have things around you that you like can change your whole mindset.
I love to look at Pinterest for Inspo. Here is how I want my aesthetic in my new apartment.

6.Self care
reward: feel good in your own skin, life is more put together, better health ; brush/floss your teeth, wash your face, get changed every morning, do whatever makes you feel good!
Night or day, remember to take care of your body, mind, and skin! Either take a shower, or light a nice candle and have a bath when you're done with your skincare!
This can just be some moisturizer and lip balm, and remember spf! This will leave your skin feeling and looking great, and is a huge step in the direction of living the "that" girl life light makeup if you feel it's necessary, but don't forget to let your skin breathe every now and then.
7.Emotion outlet
reward: relief ; this can replace old habits like stress eating, smoking, drinking, etc. ; it will take time and effort, but you can do it!
Journal
personally find writing meditative and journaling helps me put things into perspective. If you are not someone who writes often look up prompts that interest you and write about that subject. There are notebooks with prompts in them and that can help your writing process.
Music
I love to sing and write music it´s something that makes me really happy.
Work out

Find what you love doing most
8.Winding down
eward: build strength in recovery, improves mental health ; have a rest day once a week (mentally) to rejuvenate yourself and be ready for the rest of the week
It’s important to have a day off and focus on you.
Try settling down early, and just doing these small things to relax and get ready for bed. going to sleep early might be hard for some people, but again, try going to bed ten minutes earlier than usual. then, like what we talked about at the start, slowly increase it by ten and soon you'll be going to sleep much earlier, and it will be easier to wake up and be productive.
I know we can be strict to ourselves but I swear if you do all these tasks you’ll feel like a different persons within the two days. Make sure you stick to it and work for it and be confident.
