15 of the Best Foods for Your Skin

Regardless of your skin type, eating healthy foods, and keeping a balanced, nutritious diet can work wonders for your skin. Here are 15 different foods that can keep your skin healthy!

1. Watermelon 

The high water concentration in watermelon helps to reduce puffiness around the eyes, and the low level of sugar prevents lines and wrinkles.

2. Avocados 

Avocados are a fantastic source for healthy fats and vitamin E, which helps to protect your skin from damage (such as UV damage).

3. Green Tea

Green tea is the perfect antioxidant and anti-inflammatory and helps to treat acne. By flushing out toxins in the body, it keeps the skin supple. Not to mention the addition of vitamin K in green tea that can be used to lighten dark under-eye circles!

4.Red or Yellow Bell Peppers 

Peppers (especially the red and yellow ones) contain an abundant source of beta-carotene, which is then converted to vitamin A in the body. It's an excellent antioxidant for the skin to keep it nice and supple!

5. Carrots 

Carrots also contain a high level of beta- carotene that can contribute to the increased production of vitamin A. This vitamin can decrease the skin's excess oil production and lead to fewer breakouts.

6. Tomatoes 

The red pigment from tomatoes (carotenoid) helps protect the skin from any excess damage from the sun and also prevents wrinkling.

7. Oranges 

One of the most popular foods for a fantastic source of vitamin C. Not only does vitamin C has the power to reduce wrinkles and dry skin, but it also can create that glowing skin that is desired by all.

8. Salmon 

Fatty fishes like salmon are abundant in antioxidants that can calm inflammation and is a provider for healthy fatty acids. Fatty acids prevent dry skin and keep the skin smooth and supple.

9. Walnuts 

Walnuts are a fantastic source for essential fatty acids that can promote collagen production. This leads to an improvement of the skin's elasticity and produces that youthful glow.

Say less!! Who would've imagined that chocolate was a source for better skin? The cocoa in the chocolate leads to thicker, hydrated skin and can protect against UV rays. BUT be sure to avoid chocolate that has less than 70% cocoa because added sugars can harm the skin and lead to breakouts.

11. Pomegranates 

Polyphenols are abundant in pomegranates and regulate the skin's blood flow, leading to a radiant glow.

12. Almonds 

Almonds contain high levels of vitamin E that builds the skin's defense against skin cancer and can increase hydration.

13. Broccoli

Broccoli contains vitamin A and C, both of which supports collagen production and leads to healthier skin. Additionally, vitamin K can also help improve dark under-eye circles. 

14. Plain Greek Yogurt 

Greek yogurt is powerful when it comes to preventing wrinkles and keeping youthful skin. The affluence of vitamin B in it detoxes the skin and promotes hydration. However, make sure the yogurt is plain and has no added sugars because it can lead to reverse effects and more breakouts.

15. Kale 

Kale is rich in vitamin A which is a significant ingredient in Retin-A. Retin-A is used to treat acne and can help with blemishes or scars.
