How to Survive College
Hey Loves,
I wrote this article to help with everyone struggling through college at the moment. I hope this helps anyone who is thinking of going in the coming years. I hope this helps, enjoy!
1. Choose your passion
When it comes time to picking what you want to study, pick something that you really love to do! I know this can be hard or confrontational, especially when you have family and friends telling you to pick otherwise. But remember, at the end of the day, it’s you who is going to be living with your decision, not them! Life is too short to spend it doing something you’re not passionate about.
2. Study smart
Organize your study time so you don’t get swamped at the last minute! College is filled with big assignment and exams that are verydifficult to study for the last minute. When you break them up into manageable portions and do them over time, they won’t seem as big or scary! You will also be less stressed and find it easier to fit in other things besides studying.
3. Keep a Diary.
This will make it so much easier to get all your assignments done on time.
4. Look after yourself.
College can be very stressful, especially when trying to balance everything! Remember to go EASY on yourself and take some time for self-care. Try to eat healthily and keep physically active. I recommend trying meditation to help with stress and anxiety, I listen to Classical music to calm me down. I work out at least everyday. Move around don’t just sit on your bed sliding through Instagram all day.
5. It’s Okay to do things on your own.
As you get older will stop caring about what people will think, so if you want to go by yourself to get food, or on an adventure DOO ITTT! It feels good to be by yourself.
6. Make new friends.
can be very isolating, especially if you’ve had to move away from home to go there. Making friends can get you through bad times and can stay with you for life. Ways to make new friends at college involve joining a club, making a study group and making friends with people in your classes.
7. Ask for help.
College can be extremely difficult and overwhelming. If you feel this way, reach out to someone you trust and talk to them. Don’t feel any shame for asking for some help, academically or emotionally. If you’re having problems with your classes, talk to your tutors or set up a mentorship with an older student. If you feel emotionally overwhelmed, talk to your close family or friends, or if you need help, most campuses have a counselor you can go see.
